Arranging Your First Visit

Important note: As of November 2021 due to a high influx of new members Tawd Vale gunners have had to temporarily suspend new memberships until we get the current group of newcomers fully integrated into the club. This is expected to be lifted after Christmas. Please keep an eye on the club forum for the latest news.

Newcomers must arrange there first visit with our Club Membership Officer before attending the grounds. This is to ensure we have a committee member present when you arrive to show you around the club as well as go through safety rules with you. If you do not do this you will not be able to shoot, it’s very important for obvious reasons that you know the rules.

The following people are our current club officials. New members should primarily contact Dave Schofield the Club Membership Officer.

Dave Schofield (Memberships and FT Rep)
Dave Fairhurst
Carl Knapper (Chairman)
Paula Schofield (Treasurer)
David Lowe (HFT Rep)

The clubs location will be given to you once you arrange your visit with Dave Fairhurst.

Advice For Your First Visit

When you have arranged your first visit please turn up at the agreed time to help us make the day run smoothly for you. It’s a good idea to keep the following in mind:

  • If you are bringing a gun with you it must have a case or bag
  • Any guns you bring with you must be legal airguns under 12ft/lbs of energy
  • Wear outdoor clothing, you’re going to be outside
  • If you’re ever unsure what you’re meant to be doing, ask for help
  • If you’re bringing a child they must remain supervised by a parent at all times

When you first arrive at the club please ask someone for the committee member you arranged your visit with, club members will be happy to greet you and point you in the right direction.

Newcomers must attend 3 visits to the club for insurance reasons before they can join and become a full member. The cost of visiting is £5 per shooter which covers your insurance. This is explained further here.

If you are using our club rifle you will also need a tin of .177 pellets, these are available for sale from Dave Fairhurst.
